We have listed 25 of the many different ways the BellaMoon Full Moon Pregnancy & Nursing System can help you from your first trimester all the way throughout your breastfeeding journey. We’re proud to bring you one of the worlds most versatile multifunctional baby products.

1. FOR AMAZING SUPPORT IN PREGNANCY – IT GROWS WITH YOUR BUMP!

The pregnancy pillow alone can be used in at least 8 different ways – it grows with your bump. With its unique modular design, it's the only pregnancy pillow that can be zipped and unzipped into lots of different configurations. During early pregnancy, we find it best to zip the Mother's pillow into sections and use the smaller parts under your bump and back.

2. FOR SIDE SLEEPING IN LATER PREGNANCY – THE SAFEST WAY

Pregnant women are advised to sleep on the sides to promote easy blood circulation. However, this position is uncomfortable to some. During late pregnancy, we recommend the full body C-section pregnancy pillow is used. The ultimate best position is where you lie with the pillow around your front, with one end between your legs, supporting your bump at the front, and the other end under your head.

3. FOR PELVIC GIRDLE PAIN OR SPD SUFFERERS

Anyone suffering from SPD  or PGP will know how painful it is – some can find it excruciatingly painful to move during pregnancy. We advise using BellaMoon with the back support behind your back, through your legs and pushed through to the underside of your bump – as shown in the image. Due to the added weight in the body, the legs, hips and back become prone to stress and pain as they are the parts that “absorb” the effects of the added weight. When sleeping, these body parts are given intense comfort by the BellaMoon pregnancy pillow. The cushion and softness of the pillow generate the right comfort these body parts need, resulting in less pain, or even none at all.

4. AS A RELAXING COCOON TO PRACTISE BIRTHING AFFIRMATIONS

During pregnancy (especially the latter half), your mind turns to the prospect of birthing your baby. BellaMoon has been used as a cocoon while listening to hypno-birthing affirmations and try out breathing techniques for the big event. Practising hypno-birthing in the BellaMoon Mother's Pillow can create a ‘safe place’ for Mum which she can bring to the labour ward to re-create her calm zone, giving her a head-start to achieving a gentle birth.

5. TO HELP WITH PAIN RELIEF DURING LABOUR – TRUST US – IT REALLY HELPS!

BellaMoon Mother's Pillow is a wonderful place to lie down and breathe through contractions from early labour right up to the point of transition into active labour. All of the practise which Mum has put into preparing for birth in her BellaMoon cocoon at home will allow her to stay calm and in control of her surges, which can help lead to a gentle birth.

Our Founder, Irene used her Mother’s pillow through several hours of labour;

"With my second baby Darcy, I was so relaxed I actually SLEPT through the majority of my labour in my BellaMoon pillow on the bed.  I woke up almost fully dilated feeling calm, positive and so focussed for active birth.  I truly believe that using my BellaMoon in latent labour is what led to my dream birth with my baby Darcy - I gave birth in a birthing pool with zero pain relief.

This was a so much contrast to my first labour with baby Bella where I didn't have a BellaMoon pillow - I was anxious, heavily medicated and was so stressed.

I feel like the safe familiarity of my BellaMoon pillow is what made me feel so calm, relaxed and mentally prepared for birth the second time around."

6. FOR LEARNING TO BREASTFEED TOGETHER POST-BIRTH

As soon as baby arrives, the next natural step is for Mother and Baby to learn how to breastfeed together. The BellaMoon pregnancy pillow can be unzipped and reconfigured to form a breastfeeding pillow to give you support in the hospital. Hospitals generally do not supply feeding pillows, therefore it is always best to bring one with you so you can get off to a good start with regard to your positioning, comfort and support.

7. FOR SUPPORTING BABY LOUNGING IN HOSPITAL

You may find yourself staying in hospital for a day or two, especially if you have had an epidural. The nurses will not always be there to help, so you may need to put baby down temporarily whilst fetching something. BellaMoon is so versatile – not only can it be used for learning to breastfeed in hospital – it is also an excellent infant lounger support and can be used to support your new-born under supervision without fear of the baby rolling off the bed.

8. FOR BOTTLE-FEEDING AS WELL AS BREASTFEEDING

Of course BellaMoon is not just for breastfeeding. The Mother's pillow can be used as a sitting-up support pillow for bottle feeding. Whether you choose to breastfeed – or bottle feed – either way BellaMoon can help you. Dad, Grandparents, siblings and the whole family can use it to feed your little ones!

9. FOR LATERAL FEEDING IN LUXURIOUS COMFORT

The lateral feeding (side-lying) position is one of the most incredible things about BellaMoon. Lying on your side creates an wonderful bond as you are able to relax and bond with your baby whilst feeding. The Full Moon allows you to lie on your side to breastfeed in an intensely comfortable cocoon which supports every part of your body as you recover post-birth. The soft but structural removable wedge located between Mum and baby relieves a fear of rolling, plus the raised baby mattress allows you to achieve a good deep latch to help with a successful breastfeeding journey, as well as the hygiene benefits of a clean cover to rest baby’s head on whilst feeding.

10. FOR BREASTFEEDING POST C-SECTION

If you are recovering from a c-section, you will be in a lot of pain and the prospect of baby kicking your tummy (from the outside this time!) may be a painful one. BellaMoon Feeding Pillow can be used to keep baby's feet away from your tummy. Uniquely, the Half Moon and Full lateral pillow has a removable Anti-Roll Fin which allows you to lie on your side and feed baby without pain as your recover.

11. BREASTFEEDING AROUND THE HOUSE

One of the most utilised parts of BellaMoon is when you come home from hospital (or post home birth) and are learning to latch properly around your home wherever that may be… in front of the Netflix, in your bed, at the kitchen table. You might find yourself curling your back and shoulders into strange positions to adjust your latch, or raising your arms and tensing your shoulders to ‘get it right’. Using the BellaMoon feeding pillow in the early stages is paramount to helping you achieve the perfect latch. Your arms, neck and shoulders will thank you for it.

12. BREASTFEEDING IN THE RUGBY BALL POSITION

No its not a sport, however it is another type of breastfeeding position which some Mothers love to use, however can also lead to sore arms and shoulders. The central section of the BellaMoon Mother's Pillow is perfect for supporting this position.
This is also a great position for breastfeeding babies with hip dysplasia as their legs need to be kept apart, and it is much more comfortable positioning for babies who need to wear a Pavlik harness or splint.

13. BREASTFEEDING IN PUBLIC WITH A PRIVACY COVER

Breastfeeding in public can be a daunting experience for some Mothers. A nursing privacy cover is a great way to get out and about and continue to nurse baby whilst you learn to breastfeed and gain your confidence without fearing what other people will think. The design of the Full Moon includes a nursing privacy cover. This design feature is integrated into the base of the Full Moon.

14. BABY LOUNGING AROUND THE HOUSE

The Mother's pillow can be used all around the house to pop baby (under supervision) whilst giving your arms a break, especially useful when doing some tidying up. Young babies can be laid back on a slight tilt, whereas older babies can use the lounger as a protector when learning to sit up.

15. LEARNING TUMMY-TIME

From around 2 months onwards, babies can practise tummy-time to strengthen their neck muscles. The Mother's pillow is (yet again) another perfect solution for supervised tummy-time.

16. BIG SIBLING SUPPORT

It is adorable watching new siblings bond with their new baby brother or sister. Our Mother's pillow can (yes again!) be used to support siblings holding the baby, giving them a sense of responsibility as they gaze into the future of their friendship together.

17. NIGHT-TIME LATERAL BREASTFEEDING

This is an incredible special and unique aspect of BellaMoon – no other product in the world does this!

The Half Moon is the perfect solution to night-time breastfeeding whilst lying on your side. It allows you to lift baby out of their crib and bring them into bed beside you to feed whilst you lie down on your side.  The Half Moon is small enough to use within the bed and easy to switch sides during the night with ease. The soft but structural removable Anti-Roll Fin located between Mum and baby provides an awareness of baby’s position, plus the raised baby mattress allows you to achieve a good deep latch.

18. MULTI-TASKING WITH A FEEDING BABY!

Whether you are a working mother and need to check your emails, or you just simply want to work on something on your laptop, the Mothers Pillow is big enough to allow you to cosy up to your baby with a laptop behind. Perfect for the very early days when you are in bed feeding on demand day and night and need something to stimulate your mind.

19. PROTECTIVE BARRIER AGAINST OLDER SIBLINGS IN BED

If you have a toddler in your house, you may find that they end up in your bed every now and again. The outer edge of the BellaMoon Half Moon and Full Moon is a great protector against the unruly arms and legs of a boisterous older sibling who just doesn’t understand the meaning of ‘be gentle’!

20. MASTITIS COCOON

This is where the Full Moon becomes an incredibly precious commodity in the life of a breastfeeding Mother. The dreaded and feared mastitis infection can wipe out the healthiest of Mothers in a matter of hours. In the absence of medical treatment, the only way to recover is to clear that blockage and feed, feed, feed. Climbing into the Full Moon and feeding and resting your aching, shivering and delicate body is the best way to look after yourself and baby until the blocked duct or mastitis passes.

21. BABY'S VACCINE RECOVERY COCOON

The 8 week vaccines, 12 week vaccines and so on…a time when your poor baby can be inconsolable after a stressful experience for their tiny bodies. Breastmilk becomes the wonder medicine that fixes everything – that liquid gold everyone talks about. Babies just want to be nurtured during this time. So lying in the Full Moon is the perfect way to feed and settle baby (and calm yourself) after the distress of vaccine day.

22. EMERGENCY CHANGING MAT

If you ever find yourself caught out and needing to place baby down somewhere briefly, or even change baby in the back seat of your car, use your Nursing Privacy Cover as an emergency changing mat. We all get caught out every now and again!

23. FOR IMPROVING YOUR LATCH

Learning how to latch on and improving upon a painful latch takes time, practise and patience.  However it also involves technical support.  From the experience of a two-time breastfeeding Mother, it does not automatically get any easier second time around. Every baby is different and even the most experienced Mother has to re-learn how to breastfeed with a new-born.

A good supportive pillow is essential for ensuring you get not only your latch correct, but also your posture so that you are not hunched over feeding baby under strain, leading to bad habits which are difficult to correct and leave you feeling sore after a prolonged period of time.

24. A TEMPORARY CARSEAT COVER OR PRAM COVER

You can use your Nursing Cover to keep the sunlight or rain off your baby by using the loop to place over the handle or hood of your carseat or pram.

25. POOR HUSBAND SUPPORT

And finally… for the husbands who steal your pregnancy pillow – BellaMoon will change their lives too!
