3-in-1 Pregnancy & Nursing Pillow Information

How to set up the 3-in-1 Pregnancy & Nursing Pillow:

  1. Unpack and Fluff

Carefully remove your pillow from the packaging. As it has been vacuum-sealed, we recommend allowing it to air out for 24 hours. You may need to gently massage and fluff the filling to help it regain its full shape.

  1. Identify the Parts

Inside the package, you’ll find three separate pillow sections:

  • Head Pillow (A1)
  • Foot Pillow (A2)
  • Central Pillow (B1)
  1. Assemble the C-Shaped Pillow

To create the full C-shape, simply zip the head(A1) and foot (A2) pillows to either end of the Central (B1) pillow.

  1. Adjust for Your Comfort

Your BellaMoon pillow is designed to be versatile:

  • J-Shape Configuration:

Unzip one end to convert it into a J-shape. This allows you to use your own pillow under your head while still enjoying full-body support.

  • Targeted Support:

Use the smaller pillow sections under your knees, bump, or lower back for added comfort.

  • Upright Use:

The pillow can also be positioned behind you while sitting to provide excellent back support.

  • Central Pillow:

The long middle pillow can be used to elevate your legs.

PRODUCT SAFETY WARNINGS:

YOUR ATTENTION IS PARTICULARLY DRAWN TO THIS SECTION

We take the health and safety of mother and baby very seriously.  BellaMoon™ has been independently user tested by experts at an Infant Sleep Lab.  We have also considered guidance issued by the Lullaby Trust, a UK based charitable organization, which aims to raise awareness of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and provide expert advice on safer sleep for babies. We follow guidance issued by the American Academy of Pediatrics about sleep safety for infants.

Lateral breastfeeding in BellaMoon™ is suitable under full supervision by an alert adult from 0-18 months.

Research on bed sharing shows an increased risk of SIDS between 2 and 3 months. This is a particularly vulnerable time, as babies lack good head control and are unable to control their airways. BellaMoon™ Full-Moon and Half-Moon are therefore NOT designed for co-sleeping. BellaMoon™ is NOT a cot, or a sleep positioner.  We have set out some important guidance below that should be borne in mind when using BellaMoon®. Failure to follow all warnings and safety instructions could result in death or serious injury.

BellaMoon™ products are not recommended for co-sleeping.

Placing Baby in BellaMoon™

It is recommended to always place your baby on his back while in BellaMoon™ Lie-Down Feeding Pillow. Generally, experts recommend that until approximately 8 months old, babies must always be placed to sleep on their backs, to reduce the risk of SIDS.

Please note that BellaMoon™ is not designed as a baby positioner, or to prevent a baby from rolling over.

NOT for Sleeping – IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ

BellaMoon™ 'Full Moon' Day Cocoon and 'Half Moon' Lie-Down Feeding Pillow must ALWAYS be used in a child-safe and "supervised environment".

A supervised environment is one in which an awake adult is resting next to or breast-feeding baby. The products are not intended for solo sleeping or to function as co-sleeping products.  If you are afraid of falling asleep next to baby while resting, set an alarm or have a partner check on you to reduce this risk. Once lateral breastfeeding is complete and baby has latched off, in accordance with advice provided by the Lullaby Trust, babies should be placed in their own separate sleep space e.g., a bassinet, crib, etc. to sleep.

Placement of BellaMoon™ Full Moon or Half Moon Lie-Down Feeding Pillow

Please place BellaMoon™ on a flat, firm and stable supported surface, such as an adequately sized adult bed or mattress, where the risk of it tipping or falling is minimized.

NEVER USE BELLAMOON™ IN A CRIB OR OUTDOOR SETTING.

NEVER USE BELLAMOON™ ON A SOFA.

We recommend that you keep BellaMoon™ in the same area where you sleep as parents to reduce any risk to baby.

After breastfeeding is completed and baby has latched off, babies should be returned to their separate safe sleeping surface.

Do NOT leave baby lying in BellaMoon™ without the immediate presence of Mother directly adjacent. Due to the breastfeeding nature of BellaMoon, babies will seek a mother’s breast therefore could move out of position in search of mother if she is not immediately adjacent.

Once baby can turn from back to front by herself (around 3-4 months), make sure not to place any function of BellaMoon™ in an elevated position where baby risks hurting herself if she manages to climb out. Baby should be supervised at all times. It is also important to keep baby inside the BellaMoon™ enclosure.

Placing Items within BellaMoon™

As noted in our user guide, it is very important to keep BellaMoon™ clear of loose items, such as toys, crib bumpers, pillows and blankets. The Lullaby Trust recommends the use of wearable blankets, such as sleeping bags, to avoid any risk of SIDS associated with loose blankets.
You should never use the BellaMoon™ Mother’s Pillow during the night during lateral breastfeeding.

When not to use BellaMoon™

You must not use BellaMoon™, or share a bed with your baby in general, if you are a smoker, are morbidly obese, have been drinking alcohol, if you take medication or drugs that make you drowsy or otherwise significant impair or impact you, or if you feel exhausted.

Similarly, you must not use BellaMoon™ with babies who were born premature (37 weeks or less) or if your baby was born at a low weight (2.5kg or 5½ lbs or less).

 Regular Checking:

Always check your BellaMoon™ products regularly for damages, in particular, check for any loose or pulled sewing threads, any loose zips and please ensure that the removable plastic fin is intact.

BellaMoon™ Anti-Roll Fin:

Please use the Anti-Roll Fin with care. Anti-Roll has been designed to assist in preventing gentle rolling from the sides, it is a non-load-bearing fin which is not intended to be used as a mechanism to take the full weight of a person. For example, when switching feeding sides, you should not apply your weight vertically down through the fin when pushing yourself off the bed.

We recommend checking the Anti-Roll Fin on a regular basis to ensure no cracks or damages have appeared. If you require a replacement, please contact us at hello@bellamoon.info or via our contact page.

BellaMoon™ products are NOT to be used for co-sleeping. BellaMoon™ is NOT a cot, or a sleep positioner. After breastfeeding is complete and baby has latched off, return babies to their own separate safe sleeping surface.

DO NOT use the Pillow within the adult bed at night-time as it may pose a suffocation hazard.

DO NOT leave baby lying in any BellaMoon product without the immediate presence of an adult.

Due to the breastfeeding nature of the BellaMoon Nursing Nest, babies will seek a mother’s breast therefore may move out of position, Mother must always be present in the lateral breastfeeding position when using BellaMoon Nursing Nest.

KEEP BellaMoon™ Pillows away from walls or other vertical structures due to the risk that baby may move between BellaMoon™ Pillow and the side structure, become entrapped and suffocate.
